Fenner Eddy who was born in East Smithfield, Rhode Island on 11 July 1803 was an early settler of Thurston, Steuben County, New York, arriving there in 1824. He married Celia Taft and they were the parents of seven daughters and one son.

Fenner Eddy died in Thurston, New York on 14 January 1878 leaving behind a family Bible in which he notated various family and Town of Thurston deaths. Included in this Bible are references to relatives back home in East Smithfield, Rhode Island. This is copied as written by Fenner and others.
